Choose your next market with a clearer set of questions.

The best market is not always the largest. Score demand, competition, localisation effort, margin, operational readiness and speed to evidence.

Market size is only one part of the decision

A large audience does not automatically create a strong opportunity. Your service must be relevant, deliverable and commercially viable in that market. Before opening an advertising account, examine the offer, local competition, language needs and the way enquiries will be handled. A smaller market with a clear route to qualified customers can provide better learning than a broad launch.

Separate demand from delivery readiness

Make two lists. The first describes evidence of demand: customer questions, existing enquiries, search behaviour and competitor positioning. The second covers delivery: language review, sales coverage, payment process, service availability and support. A strong demand signal cannot compensate for an operational gap that prevents the business from serving a customer properly.

Build a scorecard with explicit assumptions

Use a simple low, medium or high assessment for audience fit, differentiation, localisation effort, acquisition cost and delivery readiness. Write down the evidence behind each score. If a number is an estimate, label it. Do not allow a precise-looking spreadsheet to hide weak information. The purpose is to compare decisions consistently.

Design the smallest useful launch

Choose one audience, one core offer and a limited set of channels. Create a landing page that addresses local questions and a follow-up process that works across time zones. Agree a budget ceiling and the evidence needed to continue. A pilot should answer a commercial question, not just produce a collection of channel metrics.

Review lead quality before scaling

Compare qualified enquiries with total enquiries. Ask sales teams which expectations were clear, which objections repeated and where prospects became confused. Improve the message and journey before increasing coverage. Expansion should follow demonstrated fit and delivery capacity, with a clear owner for each new market.
